Í greininni er fjallað um ME, POTS, Long Covid og umhverfisveikindi og hvernig þessir ólíku sjúkdómar geta átt mörg sameiginleg einkenni sem hafa veruleg áhrif á daglegt líf fólks. Lögð er áhersla á að þótt veikindin séu oft ósýnileg eru þau raunveruleg og að mikilvægt sé að hlusta á reynslu sjúklinga, auka þekkingu heilbrigðisstarfsfólks og efla þverfaglega samvinnu. Greinin undirstrikar einnig mikilvægi þess að horfa á heildarmyndina í stað þess að einblína á einstök einkenni eða sjúkdómsgreiningar.
